Home      About Me

The Alaskan Geek.

I was born in California, and moved to Alaska when I was five. My parents wanted to raise their childern in a better place away from gangs and other vices that come with large cities.
Since then I have been in Alaska for 23 yrs.

I grew up with computers and enjoyed using them. As a teenager I went to a lot of LAN parties with my friends. At these LAN parties that someone`s computer had some problem that prvented them from playing with the rest of us. I began troubleshooting these problems and later realized I would enjoy working on computers as a career.
After high school I got a job at a local gold mining company where my Dad worked. I began working in the Mill and started making good money. This lead me to lose sight of my goal of being a computer technician.
After a few years of being a Mill hand, I realized this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I applied for a different position at the Mine that would allow me to see my family more, be in church more, and start studying to be an IT technician. I had plans to leave the Mine after I completed my studies. (Cause mining and IT don`t mix, right?) Wrong!
The IT department at the Mine opened a new position, and I was able to get it! That was 3.5 years ago.
Now I get paid to do what I greatly enjoy! I get paid to have fun! How many people can say that about their jobs?

So that is how I became a geek.

My goal is to some day be the Network AdministratorIT Manager for a company.
